Beltangady, Oct 14: Sammilan 2024, the grand and much-anticipated reunion of Sacred Heart College alumni, unfolded on October 13, in the college premises. Organized by the Alumni Association, the event was a heartfelt celebration of nostalgia, with alumni from various batches arriving in great numbers, eager to recall cherished memories and reconnect with their alma mater.

The event was inaugurated with great dignity by Dr Stany Goveas correspondent of Sacred Heart Educational Institutions, who presided over the inaugural ceremony with grace and wisdom. The proceedings began with the college anthem, beautifully performed by the current students, setting a nostalgic and proud tone for the day.

Fr Steevan Nelson Peris, an esteemed alumnus and currently the assistant director of St Antony Ashram, Mangaluru, led a solemn prayer, honoring the founders of Sacred Heart College and remembering the departed souls with reverence

The atmosphere resonated with pride and joy as the gathering was graced by illustrious alumni, including Dinesh Hegde, district judge and director of Arbitration & Conciliation Centre, High Court of Karnataka; Arun Furtado, deputy secretary to the Chief Minister; Vivek Vincent Pais, regional director, SKDRDP; Ronald Silvan D'Souza, managing director of Leksa Lighting Technologies Pvt Ltd; Joan Gracy Lobo, manager at Union Bank of India; and CA Gayathri Rao, a chartered accountant from Beltangady.

They were accompanied by Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, the principal, and the Alumni Association’s office bearers, Wilson Rupesh Moras, who welcomed the gathering, Rozita Sera, who proposed the vote of thanks, and Ajay J Shetty. Nelson Monis, director of the Alumni Association, skilfully compered the event.

In a touching tribute, the dignitaries shared treasured memories of their days as students, recalling how their time at Sacred Heart College moulded them into the individuals they are today. Their gratitude towards the faculty was profound, and the senior lecturers, who have been the guiding lights for countless students, were honoured with mementos as tokens of appreciation. Their presence elevated the event, creating an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and deep connection across generations.

The day sparkled with cultural performances by the current students, whose vibrant dances captured the hearts of the audience. Following the formal ceremony, a delightful array of indoor and outdoor games brought out the joy and camaraderie among alumni, reminding everyone of the carefree, spirited days of college life. The reunion was more than just an event it was a celebration of shared history, lasting friendships, and enduring bonds with the institution.

As the day drew to a close, the gathering was filled with overwhelming happiness, with alumni offering glowing feedback and expressing immense satisfaction.
