Karnataka Social Club Bahrain launches weekly women's throwball league

Bahrain, Oct 14: The Karnataka Social Club (KSC) Bahrain launched its Women's Throwball League on October 6, with matches scheduled for every Sunday.

The event was coordinated by sports secretary Alwyn D’Souza, with assistance from Jeevan D’Mello and Reema D’Mello.

A total of 63 participants registered, forming eight teams:

• Team 1: Captain Sharmila D, Veera C, Aishwarya J, Joyline M, Viona S, Gladys L, Delisha F.
• Team 2: Captain Meeya P, Vinny F, Anitha D, Maria, Anusha J, Flavina R, Advika, Crystal.
• Team 3: Captain Wilma B, Sharal B, Rebecca B, Prathima R, Vivitha S, Preethi W.
• Team 4: Captain Suzan N, Shalet, Sweeta C, Ashwini A, Gizzel V, Joyce D, Freeda S.
• Team 5: Captain Anitha P, Deepika R, Rachel, Deena F, Carol, Alvia V, Shanthi A.
• Team 6: Captain Janet D, Akshatha S, Silvia M, Cynthia B, Pradulla, Deepa, Reahal, Meenal.
• Team 7: Captain Felcy J, Preema J, Reema D, Margaret S, Joylin R, Shiny M, Ruth D.
• Team 8: Captain Vinola D, Sandra D, Juliet L, Anitha A, Elsey D, Saritha, Sunitha.

In the first match, Team 2 defeated Team 4, winning two straight sets 14/10 and 14/13. The second match saw Team 3 claim victory over Team 1, with a score of 14/10 and 14/12.

The next matches are scheduled for October 13. The event was lively, with KSC president Anand Lobo providing commentary, Alwyn D’Souza serving as referee, and Clive Britto managing the scoreboard.

The day was made special by the birthday celebration of sportsperson Janet D’Souza, who was surprised with a cake-cutting ceremony by the KSC executive committee. All members joined in to wish her.
