Mangalore, Dec 2: Bunder police on Friday December 2 arrested four persons in connection with a complaint from a lady that they had cheated her with promises of providing visa.

The arrested are Melwyn D'Souza alias Samson D'Souza (32) of Sootarpete, Pradeep Kumar (32) of Kapikad, Thokkottu, Rupesh Ravan Raj (23) of Valencia and Udaykumar Nayak (37) of Gorigudda.

The complainant Malathi, from Bejai, in her statement said that on May 27, 2010, Melwyn had collected Rs 50,000 from with promises of providing visa to her son who was set to go abroad.

However, despite repeated requests from her, Melwyn did not comply, but kept assuring her each time that he would give the visa soon.

On Friday, he asked Malathi to meet him near Sharavu temple, where he arrived with Pradeep, Rupesh and Udaykumar. Malathi too went to the place along with her daughter-in-law.

However, instead of handing over the visa as promised, he demanded another Rs 20,000 from her. Malathi refused.

Before going to meet him, Malathi who had already grown suspicious of Melwyn's intentions, had informed the police. When he began demanding more money the polie who were waiting nearby swung into action and arrested all four.

Police also seized a car from their possession.

A case has been registered at the Bunder police station and investigations are on.

Unlike yesteryears for qualified and experienced people many of the agents in Mumbai do not charge a single paisa, even medical is done at co. cost!! I don't understand why this lady made such a big amount of payment to him? Ultimately the accused will be out on bail as the charges cannot be proved and the poor lady has lost her hard earned money.....

The Ministry of Labour has been giving official License to carry out the business of Job outsourcing for the Gulf /foreign Recruiters .Who can apply for it ? Any Individual or a Company can apply for it provided they can give the Bank Guarantee for a certain amount as Security .All Job aspirants should approach only those Licensed agents .Now these agents cannot go to Interior villages etc so they appoint people who are called Chalta -Firta agents .Even with those please ask one simple question which agency you are associated with .Check whether that agency is licensed and ask them whether this Chalta -firta agent is their man or not if yes then only proceed .Having done so next step ask for a copy of the Demand letter from Co .Telephone the Company and eqnuire about as to whether this is true and then only proceed .Even with all these there may be some way for cheating so always ask for Reciept or Bill .Consumer forum slogan is WHERE THERE IS A BILL THERE IS A WAY

REAL SHAME ON THESE FOUR. THEY SHOULD LEARN TO WORK HARD INSTEAD OF CHEATING A POOR WOMAN WHO AFTER GIVING 50000 IS NOT ABLE TO REALIZE HER DREAM OF SENDING HER SON ABROAD. POLICE HAVE DONE THE BEST JOB OF ARRESTING THESE MISCREANTS. A WORD OF CAUTION: DO PLEASE TO THROUGH RECOGNIZED AGENTS FROM THE GOVERNMENT WITH SOME CREDIBILITY FOR VISAS AND PASSPORTS.
