Puttur Oct 22: Vijeth M, a final-year BCom student of St Philomena College (Autonomous), has been selected for the Indian Army under the Agneepath programme. The son of Padmanabha Poojari and Yashodha G from Ariyadka village, Vijeth successfully cleared the written examination and rally conducted in Shivamogga in August 2024, securing his place as an Agni-Veer.
The Agneepath scheme, an initiative approved by the Government of India, aims to provide young Indians with the opportunity to serve in the defence forces of the nation. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the College, extended congratulations to Vijeth.
He acclaimed the Agneepath programme for empowering youth to pursue their aspirations in the armed forces, highlighting the vital role young individuals like Vijeth play in the formation and safeguarding the nation. He also congratulated Yashodha G mother of Vijeth for preparing her son for the service of the nation.
