Some parts of Dakshina Kannada receive rain, heavy showers in Beltangady

Mangaluru/Beltangady, Oct 22: Overcast conditions prevailed across Dakshina Kannada district from morning until evening on Monday. As night fell, rain began in various parts of the district.

Moderate rain was recorded in and around Mangaluru city in the early morning, with some areas of Beltangady, Sullia, Kadaba, and Puttur also experiencing showers. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the coastal region for the next two days, indicating the likelihood of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. No rain is forecast for Thursday and Friday. The highest temperature recorded in Mangaluru was 31.7°C, while the minimum was 24.4°C.

Beltangady taluk experienced heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Monday. Significant rainfall was observed in Belalu, Koyyuru, Beltangady, and Ujire during the evening. On Sunday, the Charmady Ghat region, located in Chikkamagaluru district, received rain, followed by additional showers in parts of Beltangady on Monday. Sunshine prevailed during the morning, but consistent rains were observed in the evening.

Agricultural activities are being disrupted due to the rains at this time of year, and people are also facing various health issues. Roadwork on the national highway, where tar was applied just a day ago, was damaged due to the heavy rainfall.
