Mangaluru, Oct 24: CFAL students have showcased their exceptional talent and dedication by excelling in the prestigious Indian Olympiad Oualifier in Mathematics (IOOM) 2024. This year, nine brilliant young minds have achieved remarkable scores, paving the way for further success in competitive mathematics.
The IOOM is the entry point for students aiming to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), known for its challenging problems that require mathematical knowledge, creativity, and analytical thinking. This year's cohort of CFAL students has demonstrated their mastery of these skills, reflecting the institute’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and STEM education.

“CFAL introduced me to the world of Olympiads and made the journey enjoyable. Srikanth Sir and other teachers provided excellent guidance, making math fun rather than a burden," said Abhii Sannayya, one of the IOQM qualifiers.

What’s Next: The journey from IOOM to IMO
The pathway to the prestigious International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) involves multiple stages. After qualifying in the IOOM, students will proceed through the following stages:
1. Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) – The RMO is a subjective exam, and the top 300 students from each region in IOQM qualify to write the exam. Since IOQM is an objective exam, it does not test for proof-writing abilities. RMO fixes this issue. The top few students from each region are chosen to write INMO and attend the INMO training camp.
2. Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) – The next level of selection, where students from across the country compete. The top few students in this exam are selected for IMOTC.
3. International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) – Selected students receive advanced training in preparation for international competitions. The team selection tests happen at the end of this month-long camp.
4. Pre-Departure Training Camp – A final stage of training before the international competition.
5. International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) – The highest level of competition where students from around the world compete.
