Kundapur: Minor arrested within 24 hours for Amparu house theft

Kundapur, Oct 25: Shankaranarayana police arrested a minor accused within 24 hours of registering a theft complaint at the house of Akkaiah (46) in Amparu village.

The accused, a boy in conflict with the law, was produced before the Child Justice Board of Udupi.

The theft occurred between October 10 and 21, during which the thieves broke the front door lock and stole five offertory boxes, two mobile phones kept on the TV stand, and a mobile charger, with the stolen goods valued at Rs 10,500.

During the investigation, police found several valuables with the accused boy. The stolen items from Akkaiah’s house were recovered. Additionally, the police seized other valuables from the boy, including a pair of earrings weighing 9.450 grams worth Rs 60,000, baby earrings weighing 0.280 grams worth Rs 1,700, a silver chain weighing 59.670 grams worth Rs 3,500, a small silver chain weighing 4.780 grams worth Rs 240, a silver finger ring weighing 4.080 grams worth Rs 250, and five toe rings weighing 12.390 grams worth Rs 700.

The police are continuing their investigation to trace the origins of these additional valuables.
