Udupi, Oct 26: A rally organised by college students in Udupi on Saturday, October 26 led to significant traffic disturbances throughout the city, drawing both attention and criticism.

Starting from Kunjibettu, the rally featured a convoy of modified vehicles that created congestion in several key areas. Participants were observed disregarding traffic rules, with some students sitting on car doors while the vehicles were in motion. Additionally, many two-wheeler riders were seen without helmets, raising safety concerns.

Described as a "victory march" by the organisers, the rally aimed to celebrate student achievements. However, it faced backlash for its lack of adherence to safety norms and traffic regulations. Witnesses reported that the roads were severely congested, leading to lengthy delays for commuters trying to navigate through the chaos.

As the rally progressed, the noise levels escalated, contributing to noise pollution in the area. The revving of motorcycle engines and modified jeeps added to the disruptive atmosphere, prompting complaints from residents and other motorists.

Local authorities are now reviewing the incident to address the traffic violations and ensure that future events are conducted safely and responsibly.
