Kasargod, Dec 6: Some miscreants blocked roads while some others pelted stones at buses, as a mark of protest on the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, on Tuesday December 6. The state has been observing bandh on this day every year. In the district, seven cases of damaging buses by stoning them have been reported so far.

While a private bus was targeted at Bayar near Uppala, four KSRTC buses and a private bus were damaged by stone-pelting miscreants in the town. Some shops and cars also were at the receivingend in the town.

A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus moving between the town and Mangalore came under attack at CPCRI here on national highway, while a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus was hit by stones at Nayanmarumoole here.

The protestors turned their ire at a private bus moving between the town and Kambar at Kambar, while a Kerala government bus commuting between Nileshwar and Kasargod was damaged at Vidyanagar Santoshnagara. Another KSRTC bus moving between the town and Mangalore was hit at Arikkady. The window panes of these vehicles were shattered as a result.

Some unknown people threw stones at Srikrishna Hardware on M G Road here. Three cars which were parked at Chinmaya Colony on the outskirts of the town also were damaged by stones. In several roads, bus movement has come to a complete halt. While old tyres were heaped together on the road before setting the pile on fire by miscreants at Bayar, in some places, stones were kept across the road to stop vehicles from moving about. Traffic between Bayar and Uppala as well as Bandyodu and Permude have been disrupted as a result.

Although the police have been deployed in sufficient numbers to control the situation, mischief mongers continue to strike with impunity. Buses have stopped moving between Kasargod and Mangalore, creating problems for the commuters. Only privately owned vehicles are seen moving about in the highway. A few government buses moved about under police protection.

The halt in the movement of buses has created problems for the people in general, who are compelled to rely on privately owned vehicles at exorbitant cost. The movement of people on the roads has been sparse, and the police, who have stationed additional personnel at strategic points, have been doing everything within their control to ensure that peace prevail.

This is barbaric and uncivilised act by the protestors... Protests should be meaningful, peaceful, dignified and cant be violent. Those who have destroyed and damaged public/private property, the authorities must book them and send them to jail....No one in this country can take the law in their hands....

you mean miscreants are dwelling nowhere in India but only in these two cities? Yes, the act is condemnable but its also the responsibility of the law of the land to bring the perpetrators of Babri Masjid demolition into justice. TALK ABOUT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY AS WELL.

The churches attacked without reasons to prove it and people who went to protest were arrested and cases kept for three years. Now the police is really become foolish and mute spectators though they know in advance that 6th december is a bad date for them. Why the not the police install CCTV cameras on all public transport and record all these havoc and punish the culprit.Once you have a CCTV footage you can arrest them anytime so these mess can be controlled.

Absolutely uncalled for agitation. People can have a grievance and they are welcome to seek the courts of law.

Please keep Mangalore clean and safe from all such activities of Vedike and Mullas.
