Mangaluru, Nov 1: The Bethany Educational Society Mangalore Province organized a get-together of hostel children at St Raymond’s KG Block, Vamanjoor on October 31. The hostellers gathered for an uplifting get-together centered around the theme of ‘Developing a positive attitude and mindset in children.' This much-anticipated event served as a platform for young minds to explore the power of optimism and resilience in their lives. The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome to the hostel children and wardens. Sr Lilly Pereira BS, the provincial superior and the corporate manager of Bethany Educational Society Mangalore Province, presided over the stage function.
In the presidential speech, the corporate manager thanked God for the far-sighted vision of the Servant of God Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas. the founder of the Bethany Educational Society, Mangaluru. She applauded the hostellers and recognized their full potentials. She invited them to embrace life with a positive attitude that helps not only to navigate challenges but also empowers them to grow and thrive in all spheres. She concluded saying that a positive mind fuels creativity, resilience, and happiness, which are essential for their journey ahead.
The hostel wardens and their assistants were honoured and acknowledged for their unwavering support and commitment in creating and nurturing supportive environment for the children.
Sr Mariola BS. the province coordinator for education of Mangalore province had organized the programme. In her welcome speech she called on the hostellers to engage in activities be it sports, dance, music, gardening or work which nourishes the body and also to engage the mind in learning, reflection and positive relationships.
The focus of the event was an engaging session led by a renowned resource person, Sachita Nandagopal who shared insights on ‘Developing a positive mindset in children. Through interactive discussions and thought-provoking activities, the children learned about the importance of self-belief, kindness, and empathy. The resource person encouraged the attendees to recognize themselves as beacons of light in their communities, emphasizing that they receive guidance and strength from God. Today being the feast of Diwali, the message ‘to be the lights’ resonated throughout the event, reminding the Hostellers of their role in spreading knowledge, compassion, and encouragement.
As the event concluded, the children left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the importance of positivity. This get-together not only reinforced essential values but also fostered a spirit of unity and joy among the hostellers, empowering them to shine their light brightly in the world.
Sr Laveena Maria BS the BES staff, proposed a vote of thanks and recognized the role of every one who worked towards the success of the programme. Sr Aruna BS compered the programme. Sr Sybil BS the treasurer of BES, Mangalore province was present. Mayola Vas and Mary Smitha Mathais the staff of Sacred Hearts’ Hr Pry School kept the hostellers busy in ice-breakers, sing song and lovely games.
The hostellers presented a colourful, creative amazing programmes on values like respect for the girl child, excellence in developing one’s unique potentials and love for the mother earth. Indeed, it was a day of experiencing God’s steadfast love through different persons and situations.
