Mangaluru, Nov 1: Carmel School CBSE joyously celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava in its school premises, a day marked by enthusiasm and deep cultural pride on November 1. The event was graced by Sr Julina Mary AC, joint secretary, along with Sr Pramila AC, the principal, Sr Anitha D’Souza AC, the vice principal, and coordinators Sr Fidele, Roopa, and Sr Ashwina AC.

A soulful prayer song opened the celebration, bringing a sense of reverence to the gathering. Bhuvi C then extended a warm welcome to the guests, and the dignitaries, led by Sr Julina Mary AC, hoisted the tricolor flag with great pride.

The principal, Sr Pramila AC, delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of Kannada Rajyotsava, underscoring the value of cultural pride and unity. Bhoomika expressed gratitude through the vote of thanks, and the programme’s formal segment closed with the Karnataka anthem, filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. Thanishka elegantly compered the event, making it a memorable tribute to Karnataka’s rich heritage.

The celebrations continued with a vibrant cultural programme, showcasing the talents and love of the students for Kannada culture. The cultural segment commenced with a reflective prayer service. V Umesh Karanth, the chief guest for this segment, was welcomed with a spirited dance celebrating the essence of Karnataka. Chirag Alva’s formal welcome speech was followed by an introduction of Karanth by Tr Disha.

A series of performances followed, beginning with the ‘Nanu Kannadiga’ group dance, which expressed pride in being Kannadigas. Laksh and Rishab shared insights into the day’s significance, fostering a deeper appreciation for Karnataka’s heritage. A skit highlighting the Kannada language honored Karnataka’s prominent personalities, while a lively Kamsale dance by the boys displayed the vigor of traditional art forms. The girls of grade X added a melodious touch with a Kannada song performance.

In his address, V Umesh Karanth encouraged students to embrace their cultural roots, emphasizing the beauty of Kannada and urging everyone to make it an integral part of their lives. His words, “Let Kannada's sweet melody resonate daily, embracing our heritage, nurturing our roots forever,” left a lasting impression on the audience.

The celebration concluded with Poorvi’s heartfelt vote of thanks. The entire programme was gracefully anchored by Maanyatha and Lanvi, who ensured a seamless flow of events. Carmel School’s Kannada Rajyotsava celebration was a true homage to Karnataka’s heritage and a reflection of the school’s commitment to fostering cultural pride.
