The special Mass, celebrated by Fr Lawrence Cutinha, was held in the church, with Fr Walter D’Souza, the parish vicar, and Fr Arun Lobo assisting. The service brought together parishioners in a collective expression of love, remembrance, and faith.
During his sermon, Fr Lawrence Cutinha reflected on the significance of prayer for the souls in purgatory, urging the congregation to remember the departed through intercession and to hold hope in the promise of eternal life.
After the Mass, the parishioners participated in a solemn procession to the cemetery, led by Fr Walter D’Souza, joined by Fr Arun Lobo, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Vivek Pinto, and Fr Denzil Lobo. Together, they offered prayers for the souls of all the departed, emphasizing the hope in God’s mercy and the assurance of eternal rest. The priests then blessed each grave, symbolizing the Church’s continuing care and prayer for the deceased. The choir enhanced the solemnity with beautiful hymns that echoed throughout the cemetery, creating an atmosphere of prayer and peace.
In a final communal gesture, the congregation joined together to recite the rosary, praying for the repose of all souls. The rhythmic repetition of the Hail Marys and the contemplation of the mysteries offered a profound connection with those who have passed on, providing peace and closure to many present.
The service concluded with a gathering where cake and juice were served, fostering a spirit of community among the parishioners.
