We have to be extra careful while driving any car on National Highways. The Driver has to think 10 times before overtaking a vehicle whether it is necessary to overtake? Because speed thrills the driver and kills the innocent passengers.

Mr. Vivek Baliga, you are right. Omni is a spacious and ecomonical vehicle etc. But the question is how much safety you want from your vehicle and if anyone is ready to trade mileage to lives.

SPEED THRILLS BUT KILLS................the very old caption of traffic police will be forgotten while driving. Following the trafic rules and maintaining the vehicle on perfect running condition are other forgotton factors.

The driver might have attempted to save five minutes of his driving caused the end of 2 lives.

May God shower his blessings on the departed souls.

Rest in peace, and hope the almighty give their family the strength to bear this loss.

we need strong traffic reforms which can reduce these kind of incidences, and instead of complaining we bring this change in oneself and drive carefully and impart good traffic knowledge onto the next generation as well.

We speed up and drive recklessly, and when we meet with an accident and incur heavy damage and loss, including the precious life etc., we tend to blame the bad roads, and the vehicle that we are driving in (in this particular case, the Omni), which is totally wrong. However good the roads may be and also sturdy and strong the vehicle may be, when someone is speeding and unable to control the vehicle, no one is safe. So people, stop blaming the bad roads and the vehicles, but make sure you do not speed unnecessarily and put your life at risk. May the departed souls rest in peace.

IT IS THE FASHION OF THE DAY HOLDING THE MOBILE IN SHOULDER AND DRIVING FOR A LONG TIME AS IF ACTING LIKE THEY WERE SO BUSY IN LIFE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TALK AND FOLLOWING TRAFFIC RULES IS NOTHING BUT SHAME. SUCH EXPERTS ARE SEEN EVERYWHERE BUT OUR TRAFFICE POLICE WILL KEEP MUM IF SUCH PEOPLE JUST SALUTE TO THEM.
ULTIMATELY WE ARE THE SUFFERERS IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER THAT NO ONE THINKS.

    @Nagesh Nayak, Bangalore.
I don’t drive much on Karnataka Roads because most of KARNATAKA ROADS are now only EARTH.
All funds earmarked for Road Development in Karnataka are now with Barclays Bank, Mauritius.
Do I need to tell you the name of the Account Holder? – I guess by now every one knows.

I differ in opinion with people who are talking about the vehicle, Onmi is a spacious and ecomonical vehicle, i myself have done around 60 K on highways on this, yes it has its limitations in terms of speed and safety, but does one not know that when they buy any product, in DK, the number of Onmis are more becausce of the following facts
1> Roads are and were bad during monsoons
2> lot of Farms and estates in the outskirts of the city
3> families of 4 and also relatives coming in from nearby areas on regular basis
4> easy to park in actual old towns like proper Udupi, bantwal etc.
5> spacious and can be used to carry upto 400-500 kg and accomodate 5 people easily.
if you use it like a jeep on the highway, what will happen...

This is a gory sight to see the completely mangled remains of the Omni. Most accidents happen due to reckless overtaking. Sometimes the driver makes a wrong judgement of overtaking and is not able to do so due to poor acceleration of the vehicle and the collision occurs. Mangalore and surrounding areas are now getting infamous for deadly road accidents, so many of innocent people are losing their lives. I wonder what sort of compensation the next of kin are eligible for?? All state and NH should be made 2 way which will cut down the accident to negligible rates! May the souls of the departed RIP!!

    Very sad news.
Nov 27, Puttur: KSRTC Bus Rams into Omni - Man, Toddler Die
Dec5, Udupi: Road Accident - Omni Driver Suffers Serious Injuries
Dec7, Bantwal: Two Killed, Five Injured in Ghastly Road Mishap Near Mani.

Omni is not and should not be a passenger vehicle. Even at 20-30 KM/Hour speed it is unsafe. It just disintegrates.
Central Govt. must bring "Motor Vehicle Safety Standards" (like the once in Europe and USA) and mandate all the auto manufacturers to follow it. Insurance companies also can pressure the manufacturers to make safe cars. Insurance companies in USA have created IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), they buy passenger vehicles available in the market, test it and show the results to people through media and on their web site.

Accidents in Mangalore are increasing.Drivers are thinking they are the masters in drivingand they can drive the vehicle any way at any speed.I also saw many drivers drive the vehicles with talking on mobiles, even the bikeriders too holding mobiles on their shoulder. Our RTO officers are sleeping over this.
