Mangaluru, Nov 3: The Holy Family Church Omzoor hosted a memorable and joyous celebration of Altar servers and Missionary Children Association Day on November 3. The day began with a solemn and reverent Holy Mass, led by the parish priest Fr William Menezes and Fr Antony Clany D’Souza (Rector, Gladsom Home, Mangaluru), who invoked blessings and set a spiritual tone for the day's events.

After the holy mass, the programme began with a prayer song. It was then officially inaugurated by the parish priest along with other guests.

Arther D’Souza, vice-president of the parish pastoral council, delivered a motivating speech, expressing gratitude to the young members and encouraging them to continue their good work. The parish priest gave a heartfelt speech, emphasising the importance of the Altar Servers and Missionary Children in the church community, highlighting their dedication and service.

Fr Antony Clany D’Souza then gave a speech addressing the young members, focusing on the importance of vocations to become priests and nuns in the current generation.

He stressed that the Altar Servers and Missionary Children Association plays a crucial role in nurturing these vocations, providing a foundation of faith and service that inspires young people to consider religious life. He encouraged the youths to embrace their roles with enthusiasm and commitment, as their contributions are vital to the spiritual growth of the community.

The day's activities included a well-organised quiz and engaging group activities conducted by Fr Antony Clany D’Souza, Br Joel and Br Denzil. The quiz tested the knowledge of the children on various religious topics, fostering a spirit of learning and healthy competition. The group activities were designed to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and fun among the participants. These activities saw enthusiastic participation from all the children, making the event lively and spirited.

Daffny Lewis (secretary, parish pastoral council), Sr Lucy Miranda, Sr Aurelia, Br Denzil Rodrigues, Br Joel Fernandes and the animators – Tenisha Pinto, Rachel Cutinho and Delson Rodrigues graced the programme with their presence.

The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of the quiz and group activities were awarded.
