Govt Backs Chidambaram, Says No Case Against Him

News Delhi, Dec 8 (Agancies): With opposition baying for Union home minister P Chidambaram's blood, the government on Thursday came out in his support and said that there is need no for him to resign.

Union law minister Salman Khurshid said that there was no case against Chidambaram. "There is no case against Chidambaram. Court has not yet given any indication as to it agrees to a case against Chidambaram or not," he said.

"There is nothing in the court order that raises any questions about Chidambaram or the government," Khurshid said.

This come in the wake of a Delhi trial court permission for Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy to become a witness in his complaint against Chidambaram in the 2G case.

The court has asked Swamy to appear in the witness box on December 17 to make his statement.
