Channapatna, Nov 5: Lambasting Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy for his visits to Channapatna just for his son Nikhil’s election campaign, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said the JDS leader cannot even shake the Congress government in the State even in his next life.
Addressing the election rally on behalf of Congress candidate C P Yogeshwar, the KPCC Chief ridiculed Kumaraswamy and asked whether he can form a government with 18 MLAs and wondered how he can brag about forming the government after the collapse of the Siddaramaiah regime.
Shivakumar even took potshots at BJP and termed the BJP leadership as ‘stupid’ for making Kumaraswamy as a Cabinet Minister in Narendra Modi government in Delhi with just 2 JDS MPs.
‘’We are fed up with our past association with Kumaraswamy and making him Chief Minister with Congress support. BJP has made him Union Minister for winning just 2 seats. Congress would not have allowed him to even come near,” he said.
Shivakumar said Kumaraswamy became MLA, Chief Minister and even MP from Ramanagara and his father (H D Deve Gowda) had become Chief Minister and Prime Minister from Ramanagara.
“If he had worked for the people of Ramanagara, how could Nikhil Kumaraswamy lose from Ramanagara in 2023, which was earlier held by Kumaraswamy’s wife Anita Kumaraswamy? After ditching the people of Ramanagara, they are turning their attention to Channapatna. But people of Channapatna can’t be fooled. Kumaraswamy has gone to Delhi from Mandya. Let him concentrate on Mandya. We will look after Channapatna,” he asserted.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Congress candidate has returned to the party after seeing different parties as he knows it is only the Congress party that can deliver. Yogeshwar has seen BJP and also BJP-JDS alliance and has now decided that Congress alone can serve the people.
Shivakumar asked people to receive money allegedly being distributed by JDS and Kumaraswamy but vote for Congress because along with Yogeshwar, the entire Congress party will work.
He claimed that the Congress government has sanctioned Rs 500 crore for Channapatna for developmental works and has taken up a series of projects. “We are now asking the people to reward us while Kumaraswamy has no right to seek votes after neglecting the constituency that elected him,” he said.
