Udupi, Nov 6: Manipal police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in theft cases within the Manipal station limits.
On the night of October 31, unknown thieves reportedly broke into Beck Lane Bakery in Shivalli village and Adishakti General Stores in Eshwar Nagar, within Manipal police jurisdiction. The suspects allegedly lifted the sides of the shutters to enter the premises, stealing a total of Rs 60,000 in cash. Two cases were registered in connection with these incidents at the Manipal police station.
In an operation led by inspector T V Devaraj, the team, including sub-inspector Akshaya Kumari, assistant sub-inspectors Vivekananda, Prasanna Kumar, Imran, Raghu, and Manjunath, cracked the case on November 6, 2024. The team apprehended the suspects near the Shimbra Bridge in Manipal. The accused are identified as Manjunath Chidanandappa Narateli (24) from Gajendragad, Koppal district; Prasad (22) from Hattiyangadi, Udupi district; and Kishan (20) from Hattiyangadi, Udupi district.
The police also seized a car valued at approximately Rs 5 lac, allegedly used in the crime. The accused have been placed under judicial custody.
