Mangaluru, Nov 7: Around 300 trees were reportedly cut down illegally on government land near the Moodushedde Golf Course on the outskirts of the city using an excavator machine.

Upon learning of the incident, members of the NECF raised the matter with forest department officials, who swiftly took action by confiscating the excavator and other equipment used in the tree felling. Forest officials have stated that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for cutting down trees on government land.

Environmentalists expressed concern, accusing the forest department of inaction when influential individuals were involved in such activities. They called for stronger regulations to prevent further environmental destruction, stressing that the forest department should implement measures to safeguard against illegal deforestation.
