Bangalore: Krishna Seeks Stay on Lokayukta Court Proceedings

Bangalore, Dec 9 (PTI):
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today moved the Karnataka High Court seeking a stay on proceedings initiated against him by the Lokayukta Court on a private complaint alleging his involvement in illegal mining during his tenure as state Chief Minister.

Krishna filed the petition a day after the Lokayukta police registered an FIR against him and 13 others, including former chief ministers N Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy, on the private complaint accusing them of facilitating illegal mining for pecuniary gain causing loss to the state.

In his petition, the Union Minister has submitted that he had not committed "any illegality or irregularity" in the mining sector, his counsel Ashok Haranahally told PTI.

The FIR was filed yesterday under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Forest Conservation Act, Forest Act and Minerals and Metals Regulation and Development Act (MMRDA) and IPC sections following a direction by the Lokayukta Court to investigate the complaint by T J Abraham, a city-based social activist and businessman.

Lokayukta Judge N K Sudhindra Rao on December 3 admitted Abraham's complaint and directed the Lokayukta police to file its investigation report by January 6.

    Dear Mr. Dinesh Poojary,

All the culprits should go to jail irrespective of the party they belong.

Yedyurappa and his group of thieves could not avoid jail even after their party defending them.

    S. M. Krishna and others if found guilty, have to go through the process of law. But one thing is clear, unlike BJP Sonia Gandhi or her party will not defend corrupt people.

It will bring some solace to the people of Karnataka when all the culprits are behind bar and action is taken against them.

Hello all my friends please understand the case... Mr.SM Krishan case regarding persmission to mining during his CM Period, he is not invloved in any direct mining While Mr. Yeddi allow his own minisiters (Reddy Bros) to mining and He get money from them as donation to his & sons education fund through bank transfer.......thats why Mr. Yeddi resign and later gone jail (He get direct benefit from mining)

SMK would have created IT jobs, but he ignored our state people and did not bring any reservation for the Kannadigas. Other state people took advantage.

When Barack Obama is trying to preserve the jobs for locals, why should not we do???

SMK ignored other cities and villages of state.

Lawrence, Mangalore dont sit in mangalore and comment as if you know everything. SM Krishna might have done something to Blore but also with the Co-operation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. I am not saying that. It was Mr SMK himself appreciated AB Vajpayeeji for that in one of the speeches in Bangalore. SMK might have done something to blore, but he ignored other parts of our state.

    Hi,
With no offence meant to T.J. Abraham who has complained about Mr. S.M. Krishna the earlier CM of Karnataka....
While I hold Mr. Krishna in very HIGH esteem courtesy the IT push he gave the state besides other progress, now at the Internaional post that he holds feel he should be respected accordingly.
Accordingly feel the media and the others concerned should be extra careful before coming out with such issues, which perhaps may be totally untrue.
    Kind Regards
    Aladdin Pais

YEDDY and HDK laid a precedent to go for HC to quash FIR/STAY against cases related to prevention of Corruptions! In the past, politicians, those having responsible post who might got chargsheeted would resign immediately pending inquiry.Congress precedent also goes in the same line which may force SMK to tender his resignation.SM Krishna, reigning Federal Minister, certainly relinquishes moral right to continue in the office. In this regard we can remind ourselves about LK Advani who resigned when HAWALA case cropped up.When we able to pressure Yeddy to resign, then why not SMK?

Why to bring stay from high court? If you feel you are clean let them investigate. We need your resignation for a fair trial.
