Mangaluru, Nov 8: The Sacrament of Confirmation was administered to 48 students at St Sebastian Church, Bendur on November 7. The sacrament was conferred by bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, who graced the occasion with his presence and emphasized the importance of the Sacrament in his homily, highlighting the sacredness of the holy oils and the spiritual strengthening it bestows.

The day began with the parish priest, Fr Walter D'Souza, welcoming the bishop along with the candidates for Confirmation and gathered parishioners. Before the Mass, bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha personally catechized the candidates, engaging them in a session to examine their understanding and commitment.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated, concelebrated by the bishop along with the parish priest Fr Walter D'Souza, assistant parish priest Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Vivek Pinto, Fr Denzil Lobo, and Padua College principal Fr Arun Lobo. During the Mass, bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha administered the Sacrament of Confirmation, imparting blessings and the Holy Spirit upon the young candidates.

Following the sacrament, Fr Walter D’Souza expressed heartfelt gratitude to bishop Dr Saldanha for presiding over this significant milestone in the lives of the parish youth. He also acknowledged and thanked all those who contributed to the students’ preparation, including Fr Denzil Lobo, Sr Lourdes, and Mercine Pereira, who were instrumental in providing catechism classes.

Representing the catechism students, Jewel and Joylene expressed their appreciation for everyone’s support and guidance. The celebration concluded with refreshments for all attendees, marking a joyous and spiritually uplifting occasion for the parish community.
