Mangaluru: Accused in house theft case arrested; gold valued at several lacs seized

Mangaluru, Nov 8: The Mulki police have arrested an accused in a house theft case, and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 2.56 lac.

The accused arrested is Arun (20), son of Durgesh alias Durgappa, residing at Door No. 19-111A near Mallikarjuna Math, Lingappayyakadu, Karnadu village, Mulki taluk. His permanent address is Mannur, Devara Hipparagi, Sindagi taluk, Bijapur district.

The theft occurred on November 6 in Karnadu village, Lingappayyakadu Bijapur Colony, when the accused broke the back door lock of the house belonging to Mallamma and stole gold ornaments weighing 64.200 grams. Mallamma reported the incident to Mulki police on November 7, leading to the registration of a case.

Inspector Vidyadhar D Baikarikar and his team apprehended Arun on November 8 and recovered the stolen gold. The recovered items include:

  • Gold bead chain: 29 grams
  • Gold necklace: 11 grams
  • Small black bead chain: 11 grams
  • Pair of ear studs: 3 grams
  • Pair of small earrings: 2 grams
  • Pair of small ear hoops: 1.5 grams
  • Small ring: 5 grams
  • Pendant: 0.6 grams
  • Gold beads for the chain (6 pieces): 0.5 grams
  • Pair of small ear rings: 0.6 grams

The total weight of the recovered gold is 64.200 grams.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mangaluru city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal IPS, with directions from DCP law and order Siddharth Goyal IPS and DCP crime and traffic Dinesh Kumar. It was led by ACP Srikanth of the Mangaluru North division, with support from PSI Anita HB, ASI Harishekhar, head constables Shashidhar and Chandrashekhar, Joyce Suchita D'Souza, constable Sunil, and MPC Chitra.

    Wow ,not bad. In his short life ,collected (theft)so much gold? Respect to Police who caught the thief in a short time. Now time to put him steel Bangles and let him rest for some years.
