Sandur (Ballari), Nov 9: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lambasted BJP leaders B Ramulu and B S Yediyurappa for their role as Health Minister and Chief Minister during BJP rule and said even god will not spare them for looting funds and making money over dead bodies during the Covid pandemic.
Quoting the findings of the Justice Michael D’Cunha Commission probing into the irregularities in mishandling the Covid pandemic,
Siddaramaiah said neither people nor any god will forgive the BJP for looting money even over the corpses of Covid victims.
Addressing an election rally at Sandur to campaign for Congress candidate Annapoorna, wife of Ballari Congress MP E Tukaram, on Saturday he also lashed out mining baron Janardhana Reddy for stooping to the level of abusing him in singular terms and termed him as the “most shameless” politician.
“Both Sriramulu and Yediyurappa have been indicted by the Michael D’Cunha judicial commission for their alleged corruption in getting PPE kits from China at exorbitant rates without following the norms,” the Chief Minister said and demanded that both the BJP leaders must be punished under the anti-corruption laws.
Siddaramaiah said Janardhana Reddy is a small time politician and was sent to jail over the mining scam and demanded to know his contribution to Ballari district or the State except looting money in the mining scam. “Don’t forget the number of years, you had spent in jail and being debarred from entering Ballari district,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Reddy would not have won from Gangavathi in the 2023 assembly polls as he was unable to campaign then. But Annapoorna Tukaram, the Congress candidate in Sandur, will win with a margin of over 50,000 votes, he said.
Labour Minister Santhosh Lad said Siddaramaiah had ensured that 36 villages in Sandur from Tungabhadra dam were provided with drinking water and the people will reward the Congress.
