Mangaluru, Nov 9: In a shocking incident, a man was found dead on the railway track in Bellayuru village under the jurisdiction of Mulki police station. The unidentified man reportedly ended his life by placing his head on the track. During the investigation, police recovered a scooter key and house keys near the body.
The police traced the scooter to a location near the Mahammayi Temple in Bellayuru village. The vehicle, was identified as belonging to Karthik Bhat based on the RC, insurance documents, and a driving license found inside.
Further inquiry led the police to Karthik Bhat's residence in Pakshikere, Kemral village. Upon entering the house, they discovered a locked room. Using the keys found on the railway track, they unlocked the room and were met with a gruesome scene. The bodies of a woman and a child, later identified as Priyanka (28) and Hriday (4), were found lying in a pool of blood, indicating they had been brutally murdered.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Karthik Bhat, troubled by ongoing family disputes, committed the murders on the evening of November 8 before taking his own life by jumping in front of a train. A death note was found in his diary, which indicated his intent.
The deceased woman’s parents, residents of Shivamogga, were informed of the incident over the phone. The couple had been married for six years, and police are now in the process of formally recording the case based on statements from the family.
The investigation into the case is in progress.
