Beltangady, Nov 10: A head-on collision between a car and an autorickshaw occurred late Friday night at Seetu in Mundaje village on the Mangaluru-Villupuram national highway.

The autorickshaw driver, Satish (39), a resident of Didupe, sustained injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Ujire. The autorickshaw was traveling from Ujire to Mundaje, while the car was heading towards Ujire from Charmady. Both vehicles ended up in a roadside ditch following the collision.

The accident site is part of an ongoing highway development project. Only one side of the road has been tarred, which is now worn out in several areas, leading to potholes. The other side of the road is still being paved, restricting vehicle movement. This narrow section has been a frequent cause of accidents.
