Mangaluru: Woman jumps from fourth floor of Lady Goschen Hospital after newborn's death

Mangaluru, Nov 11: A woman who recently gave birth and lost her newborn to illness ended her life by jumping from the fourth floor of Lady Goschen Hospital on Monday, November 11.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjita (28), a resident of Karkala. She was initially admitted to a hospital in Karkala for her delivery but was later referred to Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru on October 28 due to health complications. Ranjita gave birth to a baby on October 30; however, the newborn was placed in the ICU and passed away on November 3.

Doctors had advised discharging Ranjita on Monday, November 11, as she had recovered from her illness. Her family members were present at the hospital when the incident occurred. Without any warning, Ranjita reportedly jumped from the fourth floor of the hospital.

She was rushed to Wenlock Hospital immediately but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
