Lucknow, Dec 10: An IIM Ahmedabad Professor will try his luck at the election in coming UP assembly elections. Abhishek Mishra, who teaches strategic management at IIM-A has been fielded by Samajwadi Party (SP) from Lucknow (north) constitutency.
Abhishek who holds a Phd from MIT, USA has also completed his higher education from Cambridge University. A throughout convent educated, Abhishek went to St Francis College, Lucknow, St Joseph's in Nainital and later at DPS, RK Puram in New Delhi.
Not only this, Abhishek's father is also a serving IAS officer JS Mishra. His father has held senior positions in UP and is presently posted as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC), New Delhi.
Responding to his decision for making political foray, Abhishek remarked: "We should rise above politics of religion and caste. There should be issues like education, development and upliftment of all the communities. I hope to harp on issues which are important for the young generation."
Abhishek owed his entry in political arena to SP's state chief Akhilesh Yadav. "I was attracted mainly due to his vision and youth face. His policies for the youths of the country motivated me to join the party throw my hat at the hustings," he said.
Earlier, SP has fielded Juhi Singh from Lucknow (east) who is also the the daughter of former IAS officer AP Singh. The Samajwadi Party (SP) known for its rustic image is undergoing a makeover.
Lately it has launched its election campaign on a modernised pattern with presence on facebook, twitter etc. A helpline for the people of the state is also in the pipeline where they can lodge their grievances. Akhilesh who is now spearheading the party's campaign is taking keen interest in modern gizmos.
In UP, the IAS and other officials have developed a penchant for politics with many retired officers directly contesting the elections while others promoting their kins. Congress MP, PL Punia is also a retired IAS officer of the state.
