Bantwal, Nov 11:A commotion erupted at the revenue inspector's office in Vittal on Monday over the issuance of a title deed for a property. Supporters of a political leader allegedly created a ruckus, breaking the glass on a table in the office. Police were called to the scene to maintain order as tensions escalated.
Sheikh Shiban, a resident of Veerakamba, recently constructed a new house on government land and had applied for a title deed under section 94C. During an inspection and report by the revenue officials, it was noted that the house was within a specific distance from the forest department's designated area, and further clearance was required. This condition posed an obstacle to the approval of the title deed, leading to pressure being exerted on the department to waive the condition.
When officials did not agree to the request, BJP leader Madhav Mave, accompanied by his supporters, arrived at the revenue inspector’s office in Vittal. During an argument, an agitated individual allegedly insulted the government official and struck the table, causing damage to the glass top. This incident led to a tense atmosphere at the office.
Vittal police, upon receiving information about the situation, arrived at the location, dispersed the crowd, set up barricades, and secured the office to prevent further disturbances.
