Couple ends lives near Madikeri due to real estate mafia harassment; FIR filed against 12 persons

Madikeri, Nov 14: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, November 13, in the evening in Dodda Honnoor Kaval, under the jurisdiction of Bailukoppa police station in Piriyapatna taluk, where a businessman and his wife ended their lives reportedly due to harassment by a real estate mafia.

An FIR has been registered against 12 individuals in connection with the case.

Suresh (40), originally from Koppa and running a business in Kushalnagar, and his wife Pallavi (28) were the victims.

Suresh, son of Jayanna from Koppa, reportedly took his wife to an old, vacant house on their land in Dodda Honnoor Kaval, under the pretense of visiting a temple, where the couple ended their lives by hanging.

A death note left by Suresh is said to name those responsible for the harassment that led to their deaths. Following this, a case was registered at Bailukoppa police station against 12 individuals.

The post-mortem of the deceased couple was conducted at Kushalnagar Community Health Centre.

    "Any kind of harassment does find a solution, but Suresh and Pallavi did not do the right thing by committing suicide because now the accused will be heard. Ending a beautiful life in haste is very sad."
