Bantwal: Missing elderly man's body found on railway tracks

Bantwal, Nov 15: An elderly man from Nagavalachil, Sajipamunnur village, went missing on November 5 after returning home from the bank. His mortal remains were found the same day on railway tracks in Ullal.

The deceased, identified as Uggappa Poojary (70), had visited a bank in Panemangaluru on November 5 to withdraw his old-age pension. After returning home, he made a brief call to his daughter-in-law before going missing, leaving his mobile phone behind.

His son Anil filed a missing person complaint at Bantwal city police station. On the same day, a body was found on the Ullal railway tracks and was kept at the Wenlock Hospital mortuary as the identity was unknown. On Thursday, November 14, family members identified the remains as those of Uggappa Poojary. A case has been registered at Mangaluru railway police station.
