Mangaluru, Nov 15: Children’s Day was celebrated at Lourdes Central School on November 14 in the school ground. The students of the entire school gathered with a lot of enthusiasm and waited eagerly for the celebration to begin. The programme started with a prayer followed by the floral tribute to Pandith Jawaharlal Nehru.
Linet D’Souza, the science coordinator gave the significance of the day. Teachers greeted the students with a melodious song. Secondary and higher secondary school teachers gave awareness to students on the ill effects of social media through a short skit. Teaching and non-teaching Staff of Lourdes Central School entertained the students with a dance performance.
Speaker of the school cabinet Amber Furtado was the chief guest and she shared her experiences in the school and the ways in which she was guided in curricular and co-curricular activities. She thanked the school for all the encouragement and motivation received.
The principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira addressed the students saying they are the cause for the existence of schools and that every student is unique and precious part of the school.
All students and teachers celebrating their birthday on November 14 were greeted.
In his presidential address, the manager Fr J B Saldanha urged the students to dream big and work hard towards that. He assured them of providing all possible opportunities and facilities towards realizing their dream.
All students who won prizes in the lucky games conducted in respective classes we awarded. Student achievers in sports and games, cultural competitions, donors of books to the school library and all those who helped in various school activities were felicitated.
Sanvi Rai and Macwin Rodrigues were the student representatives along with vice principals, Belita Mascarenhas, Anita Thomas, Fr Arul Joseph who were present on the dais.
KG coordinator, Lydia D’Souza welcomed the gathering, computer coordinator, Chandini Chitraveer proposed the vote of thanks. Vivita D’Souza compered the programme and Lolita Mascarenhas was the convener of the celebrations.
