Karkala: Illegal Goan liquor smuggling, one accused arrested

Karkala, Nov 17: In a significant development, Prashant Suvarna, a resident of Adi Udupi in Udupi Taluk, was arrested in connection with the seizure of Goan liquor from his residence at Marimaru, Bola Village, Karkala Taluk, and the premises of 'Avani Nilaya' house in Abyanadka on November 14, 2024.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officers, with the coordinated efforts of the Udupi District Superintendent of Police and Uttara Kannada District Superintendent of Police, apprehended the accused at Karwar Bus Station. Prashant Suvarna had been evading authorities and relocating between Udupi and Karwar.

Following his arrest, Suvarna was brought to Udupi and presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend another accused in the case, Avinash Malli, a resident of 'Avani Nilaya,' Abyanadka, Bola Village, Karkala Taluk, Udupi District.
