Beltangady, Dec 12: In a startling incident, a mother allegedly stabbed her own son to death with the help of her another son at Boodujaalu near Nidle here on Monday December 12 morning.
The deceased has been identified as Laxmi Narayana alias Laxmisha (26). He was allegedly killed by his mother Ratna (52) and brother Somshekar (32).
A case has been registered in Uppinangady police station, and the reason is said to be a property dispute.
On Monday at around 9.45 am, Laxmisha was at his residence in Boodujaalu. About 10 minutes later, he called his other brother Ravi pleading for help, and said in hurried tones that he had been attacked by his mother Ratna and Somashekhar.
Speaking to reporters, Ravi said that he had been to Patrame on Sunday night. When he was in Kokkada, his brother Laxmisha called him and Ravi immediately rushed to the Boodujallu residence.
"The door was closed. Laxmisha was covered in blood but somehow managed to come to the door where he collapsed. He spoke to me for about 10 minutes. Ambulance was called and police were informed, but Laxmisha breathed his last," he said. Ravi used to visit Boodujaalu house once a week.
Laxmisha was in a contract work of security for a commercial bank of Dharmasthala. He used to fix dish antenna for TVs too. Sources said that he did not have any bad habit, but there were regular clashes between him and his mother and brother. Laxmisha's sister Mamata had married a man against Laxmisha's wish and he had always opposed his sister coming home. There used to be fights over this issue, sources said.
Ratna is an Anganawadi worker while Somashekar is an electrician. Ratna had left for her daughter’s house in Bangalore on Saturday December 10, and was back on Monday morning. A house had been purchased in Pangala, Dharmastala and the Boodujaalu house, where Laxmisha stayed, was purchased sometime back.
Incidentally, both the accused were spotted passing in a two wheeler after today’s gruesome incident.
Previous Case a Murder too?
Rathna had five children, of whom one committed suicide two years ago by hanging. Ravi suspects that it was also a murder as the feet of the deceased person were found touching the floor. However, at the time of the incident, it was known to be a suicide.
SP Labhu Ram, additional SP Prabhakar, DYSP Nagaraj, Manjula, Uppinangady police rushed to the spot.
