Bantwal: 14-yr-old boy struck by lightning in Kedila village, dies

Bantwal, Nov 17: A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning in Kedila village on Sunday, November 17, in the evening. The deceased, Subodh (14), was the son of Chandrahasa from Muriyaaji, Bantwal.

The incident occurred around 5:30 pm while Subodh was sitting outside his home. He was immediately struck by lightning and fell unconscious. Family members rushed him to a nearby clinic, but he was later transferred to a private hospital in Puttur. By the time he arrived, doctors confirmed his death.

Subodh, an 8th-grade student at Kalladka Shriram High School, was sent to Puttur Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Tahsildar Archana Bhat has instructed revenue officials to assist the grieving family.

Vitla revenue inspector Prashanth Shetty, village administrative officer Anil Kumar, Kedila Panchayat president Harish Valtaje, and members Umesh Murva and Hazeed visited the family to offer their condolences and support.

    Elders must guide young ones about the likely dangers of Lightening if exposed. Even being inside it's better to remain safe. Not to use any electrical gadgets, importunately mobile phones. Precautions are better than cure.

    Very sad.He must have sat on floor without shoe ? Or having any electronic devise like mobile?One should be careful when lightening is there better seek a safe place on wooden chair or Bench ,bet.Such a young fellow all of a sudden no more.Heartfelt sympathy to family.
