Udupi: Jewellery, cash worth over Rs 31 lac stolen by home nurse

Udupi, Nov 18: In a shocking incident, a home nurse employed to take care of an elderly man in Udupi allegedly stole valuables from the house.

Prasad (57) from Badagubettu, Udupi, had hired Siddappa K Kodli, a home nurse, through a health care service in Udupi’s Parkala area around 15 days ago to assist in the care of his father.

On Sunday, November 17, between 9:15 am and 1:15 pm, Siddappa reportedly stole a 6-gram diamond earring set valued at approximately Rs 43,800, which was kept on a glass rack in the hall of the house. In addition, he allegedly took gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 31,17,100 from a secret locker in the bedroom. The total weight of the stolen items is estimated to be 427 grams.

Following a complaint by Prasad, a case under Udupi City Police Station, crime No. 194/2024 has been registered under Section 306 BNS.

The police are investigating the incident and have begun efforts to track down the accused.

    These days many thieves are present especially among home nurses When home nurses are there in the house do not keep valuables at home Please store them at safe deposit lockers and make sure they are safe/ Recently a man lost Rs 358000/- from his home when he employed a home nurse Luckily there were security cameras in the house and he was caught and money was recovered fully

    I am sure he is not a Nurse,only tarned caretaker must have come.Whether he knew their position first?Always confirm and arrange a person who has a clean chit from Police and employ.Afterall one should be sure he will lookafter the sick ,not next morning find persons dead body and house is emptied.Sad.Taking advantage of sick and runaway with money and jewellary.
