Mangalore: Oh Dear! Deer Trapped, but All's 'Well' After Rescue

Mangalore, Dec 13: A male wild deer was trapped in a well near Shree Durga Parameshwari temple in Ullal on Tuesday December 13 morning.

The deer has been straying about in the locality of Arasihithlu, Ullal for a week now, people said. On Monday night, a dog is said to have chased the deer which ultimatley fell into the well as it tried to jumped from the well's parapet.

The deer was rescued by Laxman, a local, who climbed down to the well and tied the deer with ropes. The deer was then hoisted up by other people. The operation last for about an hour-and-a-half, from around 7.30 am to 9 am.

At present the deer has been tied up with ropes and taken to Ullal police station from where it will be taken to Pilikula.

Pandeshwar fire personnel also arrived at the spot.

    Greg Dear, you ar talking about brutality... tomorrow if they sell this deer meat in the market you will be the first person to buy it and cook and eat it... stop being hypocrate, they don't treat the chickens any less remember that!!

    Sad to see this deer being tied up so brutally.What wrong did it do to receive this treatment ? I think our citizens should watch more of Animal Planet,Discovery & National Geography rather than those silly hindi serials.

    On the other hand,where could this deer come from ? There is no forest in & around Ullal area.Could someone have had it as a pet ? This angle should be investigated under the forest act.
