Mangaluru: ‘Regale 2024’ held at Lourdes Central School

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Lourdes Central School, under the banner La Familia Unida, celebrated Regale 2024 on November 16 on the school campus. The event aimed to bring students and their families together for a joyous celebration of unity and togetherness.

The dignitaries of the day, manager Fr John Baptist Saldanha, principal Fr Johnson Sequeira, Fr Peter Mascarenhas, chief guest Dr Jasmine D’Souza, vice principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas, and vice president and secretary of the Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, Ashok Pinto and Avitha Pinto, were escorted to the dais by the school band.

The programme commenced with a prayer song by the LCS staff. Intercessory prayers were led by Alica D’Silva, Linet D’Souza, Lavita D’Souza, and Jovita D’Souza.

Fr Johnson Sequeira welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest, Dr Jasmine D’Souza, MPT (Orthopedics), a renowned physiotherapist, anchor, actor, and alumna of LCS. She currently serves as an assistant professor at MVM College of Physiotherapy, RGUHS University, Bengaluru. The manager Fr John Baptist Saldanha, along with the dignitaries, felicitated the chief guest.

In her address, Dr Jasmine D’Souza spoke about four types of students: those encouraged by teachers to participate, those who seize opportunities themselves, those lacking the courage to try, and those who cheer others on. She shared her own experience of moving from the third to the first category and urged students to embrace every chance to shine.

Fr John Baptist Saldanha, in his message, highlighted the challenges of parenting and emphasized the importance of opportunities to relax and build connections as a family.

The theme song for the event was composed and performed by Evana Marianne D’Souza (class 9C), Jaden Ezechiel Baptist (class 9C), and Maquin Gregg Rodrigues (class 10B).

Participants who performed at La Familia Unida were honoured with certificates of appreciation. The event was declared open by the dignitaries, lead teachers, and students with the release of colourful balloons. Food stalls from Gold Finch Hotel and various toy and game stalls set up by teachers were also inaugurated.

The event featured an exciting round of Housie Housie and spot games with attractive prizes, adding to the excitement.

Regale 2024 provided a vibrant stage for students, parents, and teachers to showcase their talents in music and dance, with cultural performances captivating the audience. The event concluded with a lively baila dance that stole the show.

The programme was compered by Dilla Colaco, Roshan Cordeiro, Linet Pereira, Jennifer Menezes, Preema D’Souza, and Marula Gibson.

The event committee members Lolita Mascarenhas, Shanthi Menezes, Sowmya, Ivan Mascarenhas, Harshitha Shetty, Rohan Sequeira, and Linet Pereira were commended for organizing an enjoyable day. Special appreciation was extended to principal Fr Johnson Sequeira for organizing this memorable Children’s Day celebration.
