Kundapur, Nov 20: Seven passengers travelling in an Innova car were seriously injured when an insulator truck collided with the vehicle near Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple on National Highway 66, close to Kumbhashi.

The injured passengers were admitted to Manipal Hospital. The truck driver, who was also injured, has been hospitalized.

The Innova, carrying seven passengers reportedly from Kerala on a trip, was traveling from Kundapur towards Udupi. Near the gateway of Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple, the driver reportedly began reversing the car to enter the temple premises.

At the same time, an insulator truck registered in Mangaluru, carrying fish from Goa to Kerala, collided with the reversing Innova. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the Innova completely mangled and causing the truck to overturn.

Kundapur traffic police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
