Chikmagalur, Dec 13: The newly-built Chikmagalur Catholic Club (CCC) and guest rooms were inaugurated amid a glittering function held here on Sunday December 11 evening.

CCC and guest rooms were built at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore, out of which Rs 80 lac was given by chief donor Ronald Colaco, and the rest by other donors. CCC is affiliated to Catholic Centre in Bangalore.

Bishop Dr Anthonyswamy of Chikmagalur diocese and Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi were the chief guests.

In his address, C T Ravi said that Chikmagalur legislative assembly constituency has state-of-the-art golf course and CCC is another landmark which has the potential to grow as a tourism hub of the district. He also announced that funds are being allocated by the state administration in order to develop the access road to CCC, including a new bridge in the city.

Chief donors Ronald Colaco and planter Rudolph Mascarenhas were the guests of honour.

Bishop Dr Anthonyswamy blessed the new premises and thanked God for realizing the venture in record time.

Ronald Colaco said that it was during September 2007 that he had visited the old building of Catholic Centre and realized that the Catholic community working hard in the coffee estates of the Malnad region needs a serene place to relax and socialize. He contributed a certain amount and other planters contributed generously to realize the venture that was inaugurated on Sunday evening, he said. He also urged the coffee planters to enhance their profits as times are good in terms of prices for coffee and sale of estates also fetches huge margins.

Rudolph Mascarenhas inaugurated the guest rooms - Arabica and Robasta at the occasion.

C T Ravi inaugurated the Club House during the programme.

Arun Saldanha felicitated Ronald Colaco and Rudolph Mascarenhas, architect George John and landscaper Santosh for their free service.

CCC president Arun Saldanha and secretary Pradeep Rebello were present on the dais.

Navaratna Pageant Show organised by Marjorie Texeira stole the show.

Ocean Kids of Mangalore entertained the audience with salsa and traditional Goan dances.

The students of St Joseph’s Convent rendered prayers and performed a welcome dance. Marjorie Texeira compered the programme. Pradeep Rebello proposed the vote of thanks.

I don't want your preach... I have heard this many times in my life thru some good people...and I am using them wherever it is applicable.

Before preaching to others, you should use them in your life first...

If you have humanity/love/peace/generous, why do you trouble other religion and its sentiments?

If this club is intended to serve ONLY humanity/mankind, it is most welcome. I hope its purpose is met...

Remember humanity/peaceful is not achieved if we keep silent when others attacks us or us sentiments.

Alwyn, Canada good thoughts from your notes but it is same thoughts preached in Buddhism hate no one rather love and help the needy and even they are one step ahead LOVE your OWN ENEMY, don't advise others just enjoy in club and for your information no one from any community will donate without his own interest or benefits to any union organisation.

When like minded people have come together and conceived this idea with so much effort and dedication, it is common sense that they would have thought of the purpose and use of this Club. It is a constructive idea by the community. Silly people like Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru commenting without any basis reflects badly on them and not on the promoters.

Don't give any unnecessary preach here...It is not my negative thought. It is a positive thought. It might be -ve for you..

Whole world knows life is short. Don't think only you know that..

Christians are also good for anti social activities...

Develop love & humanity, respect other community, be generous...

Dinesh Poojari, I have always seen your negative comments at all levels where Christians are involved except here you are positive. My Friend positive attitude is a key in life regardless of religion. Life is short and takes seconds to disappear from this earth. Like Mr.Colaco like minded few do this good social job and rest rich people only deposit balances in banks for fuure generations to enjoy. That is why Christians are for to do good social activity which benifits to community, society as a whole and we are very proud to do that because Jesus has done to all even though people crucified him and shed blood on cross. Moral of the story is be kind, generous, peaceful, good towards humnan, hate no one rather love and help the needy. God Bless and have a nice Christmas season. My prayers are for you and your family during christmas season.
