Kuwait: Vinutha D’Mello Elected President of SACAA

Media Release

Kuwait, Dec 14: SACAA (St.Aloysius College Alumni Association), Kuwait held its Annual General Body meeting on recently at the Indian Community Senior School, Amman Branch, Salmiya hosted by the Executive committee members of the term 2009-2011 under leadership of the outgoing President Prashanth Karivellur.

SACAA Kuwait which began over 6 years ago when like-minded Aloysian Alumni based in Kuwait felt the need to bond together and relive those memories and importantly support the Alma Mater wherever possible.

The outgoing President Prashanth Karivellur delivered his address and thanked all the Alumni and committee for their unstinted support in the various events that were conducted during the last two years.  The General Secretary Prashantha Pais then delivered the report of the activities undertaken during 2009 - 2011.This was followed by the Treasurers report given by Satish Lobo.

Elections for the new committee were then conducted by the Election Commissioner ArchieMenezes.

SACAA Kuwait has written a new chapter for SACAA by having a lady president for the first time across SACAA. It was probably a coincidence that this has happened during the 25th year since women were first admitted into St. Aloysius College, Mangalore.

Following are the members elected as Office Bearers for the term 2011-2013.

President –Vinutha D’Mello Miranda
Vice President – Kiran Sunny
General Secretary – Ashley D’Silva
Joint General Secretary – Thomas D’Souza
Treasurer – Dominic Pinto
Sports & Cultural Secretary – Merryl Pereira
Secretary, Member affairs – Pearl D’Souza
Joint Secretary, Member affairs – Pradeep D’Souza
Secretary, Public Relations- Adrian Pais

Members who were interested to join the Advisory Committee were also nominated. Prashanth Karivellur was elected as the President of Advisory Committee.

The newly elected president spoke a few words and requested not just the committee but every alumnus in Kuwait for their wholehearted cooperation and support to make this a successful term. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Ashley D’Silva.

    Steve,
I dont think SACAA is only for Konkani speaking public. This is a forum as mentioned for all who studied in SAC.
I am a active member at SACAA Kuwait and If I am not wrong SACAA conducted Competitions for children, one for Women, They had a great picnic at Mis and also had the ever popular Rendevouz.
Please do participate in such programs too.

Congratulations, dear Vinutha on your being elected as the new President of SACAA in Kuwait. There is so much to be given back to your Alma Mater who has given us so much of intellectual gifts in our hitherto life.

As and when any of you visit the St. Aloysius College MBA complex at Beeri, please visit the new Museum as created by Fr. Denzil wherein you will find various memorabilias from Kuwait that I had gathered more than 50 years ago. I also have to give the precious collection of mine, the Kuwaiti chest and many other Arab artifacts one of these years, before I say "Fiehmaanillah" to this beautiful world, so that the students of St. Aloysius and many others may enjoy some of the best collections from the Arab world.

I also have a large collecton of DVDs and VCRs on Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and also the Oil fires of Kuwait which I will handover once we have established suitable volunteers at Beeri that can conduct the audio-visual programs. I have some of the fond memories of Kuwait which I will share with the students as and when I visit Beeri in future years - "Inshallah".
