Mangalore, Dec 14: An unidentified body was found in an unsealed well on Wednesday December 14 afternoon near the railway station in Kankanady.

The body was discovered only after people in the vicinity sensed a stench emanating from the spot. The unsealed well is located in a deserted place and is surrounded by weeds, bushes and grass.

The body was decomposed and it was obvious that the person must have drowned some time back.

The deceased was dressed in jeans and shirt. However, the clothes were in a highly tattered state.

Pandeshwar police arrived at the spot and hoisted the body from the well with the help of ropes.

Speaking to Daijiworld, police said that the body may have fallen into the well a month ago. The well belongs to the railway department, they said.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
