Man from Kanhangad Dies of Suffocation in Abu Dhabi

Kasargod, Dec 14: P P Padmanabha Nair, a 35-year-old man from Kanhangad employed in Abu Dhabi passed away due to suffocation inside a tunnel, on Tuesday December 13 night.

Padmanabha Nair was working as chief electrician with Askalan Construction and developers, Abu Dhabi.

Padmanabha's colleague, a Pakistani was working on an underground water storage tank that was under construction. When he did not return, Padmanabha went in search of him and entered the tunnel leading to the tank. However, he suffocated to death inside the tunnel.

Padmanabha's body has been shifted to Khalija Hospital morgue.

Padmanabha had built a new house located in Nileshwar Chedy Road in Kerala a few years ago. He was in his hometown on vacation last month and had returned to Abu Dhabi on November 28.

He is survived by his mother, wife and two children.

    Very sad, May his soul rest in peace.
    This kind of incident occurs regularly because of lack of knowledge. One must not enter confined space with out proper precautions. Responsible must do the gas checks & confirm that the space is free from dangerous fumes or asphyxiating gases before entering any tanks and pits( including sewage pits)

    Very sad to know this occupational accident & May his soul rest in peace.can't believe such accident happening in such a developed country where lot of company are forced to follow strict HSE rules?? Had he know the Hazard or entered with life support / oxygen mask he would have saved. No details whether this happened after proper precaution ?

    Great tragedy and very very sad news.May the soul rest in eternal peace.May god give strength to family to bear the loss of deceased.

    An Indian scarified his life for Pakistani which should be noted by Pakistanis.May this unfortunate incident open up Pakistani's mind against India..
