A Couple of Ministers Not Cooperating, Says Mamata

Kolkata, Dec 15 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said she was not getting cooperation from a couple of her ministerial colleagues. But she said she would wait at least till Jan 1 before taking any decision on reshuffling her ministry.

"One or two ministers are not cooperating with me. We have to think about it," Banerjee said in an interview to a Bengali television channel.

She said she would wait for some time. "I will celebrate Kalpataru Utsav Jan 1. Then think about it."

It is believed that Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa had gone into a trance Jan 1, 1886, and granted enlightenment to his disciples.

Banerjee, who was sworn in chief minister May 20, said the work of all departments would be reviewed.

"Most of the ministers are working well. The new ministers are working very hard. But there are some who have not done that well. I will try to reason with them," she said.

She also refused to spell out who would succeed Subrata Buxi as the minister for transport and public works since Buxi has been elected to the Lok Sabha in the Kolkata South constituency bypolls last month.
