Illegal Mining: Probe Against S M Krishna Stayed

Bangalore, Dec 15 (IANS): The Karnataka High Court Thursday stayed for four weeks a police probe into the alleged role of External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna in allowing illegal mining when he was the chief minister from 1999-2004.

Justice B.V. Pinto ordered the stay on a petition by Krishna to dismiss the case against him registered in the Lokayukta (ombudsman) court here.

Krishna filed the petition Dec 9 after police registered a first information report (FIR) to launch the probe into his alleged role.

The FIR was registered on the direction of Lokayukta court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao with whom Bangalore businessman T.J. Abraham filed a complaint against Krishna, two other former chief ministers and 11 serving and retired senior officials.

Krishna said in his petition that he had not committed "any illegality or irregularity" regarding mining when he was the chief minister.

Do not come to the conclusion after the stay is obtained from the High Court. The petition is under section 482 of Cr. P.C. The High Court will decide the matter and then comment. By giving the stay it is not that matter has come to an end. The objection of the petitioner and the Lokh Ayukta is also called for.

funadamental issue is corruption and it is at very grass root level as many high/supreme court decisions were put on court again as part of whistle blowers. after all lokpal or court is hadnled by another person!! who may may not be able to fulfil his job. we do beleive in the system and no way can question this output, but what surprises everyone is that is only congress members allowed to loot?

Official wealth of DVS is 2.3 crores and liabiltiy(Debt) is 1.6 crores. This is not fixed deposit in bank - but value of house in Sullia(Devaragudda and house in Mangalore). Why dont you check official wealth of other 'leaders' of India like Rahul baba, Sharad pawar, Anad sharma..etc? Even for that sake, our own Mannina Mommaga HDK?

Dear Sreenath Udupi,My stand is clear whoever make mistake will go through rule of land. The timing, the context and the motive of the allegation is in question! All these case filing against certain political leaders are to make mockery of the provisions of Lokayukta institution and to weaken genuine corrupt cases of BJP stalwarts.Do you know DVS's wealth as of now!!It is multi crores in official record then unofficial god knows? How long BJP in power in Karnataka? How long Congress in power in Karnataka? What BJP looted in three years may equal Congress's looting of 55years!To go for a stay in the court started by Yeddy and it was followed up by HDK,SMK......

Honourable court is given good decision. he was better CM compared to fools who ruled us after he quit.
shouldn't the justice concentrate on Reddys Yeddys sri Ramulu and thrown them to jail instead of playing ventade politics.

The cases against our earlier chief
ministers came very early in their life. The Lokayukta should waited for another 10 to 20 years to register(FIR). It is shame after years we suddenly wake up. Put all behinde bars

    Come on my CONgress friends,

When Hon'le justice Pinto gave conditional bail to Yeddy you people were ridiculing him.....

Now your SMK is given relief even before going to prison you are keeping "silent" mode....

Come on comment now spineless charecters.....

Nobody should go to prison before conviction....unless they are proved to be tampering with evidence and threatening witness....

Law will take its own course and nobody above the law. There was no report against SMK in the report of Lokayukta regarding illegal mining. This could be political vendetta let court will decide SMK's fate.
