Udupi District Working Journalist Association felicitates journalists

Udupi, Nov 29: The Udupi District Working Journalists' Association organised a felicitation programme for journalists, who achieved in the field of journalism at the Udupi Press Club, on November 29.

The event also marked the association’s celebration of receiving the Udupi district Rajyotsava award this year, with a cake-cutting ceremony. Senior journalist Prabhakar Acharya Chittur, who was honoured with the district Rajyotsava award, and veteran journalist U S Shenoy, recently appointed as a member of the Karnataka Media Academy, were felicitated during the event.

Journalists Anil Kairangala, Muhammad Shareef, Suresh Ermalu, Uday Kumar Mundkur, and Chetan Poojari Matapadi, who brought home multiple medals at the state-level journalists’ sports meet, were also honoured. Treasurer of the association, Umesh Marpalli, who led the team, was recognised for his contribution.

The programme’s chief guests included Udupi Pithrodi Fishmeal director Uday Kumar, founder of Udupi Vishwa Samskriti Pratishthana Vishwanath Shenoy, and Udupi district information officer Manjunath. The event was presided over by Rajesh Shetty Alevoor, president of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association.

As part of the ceremony, a photograph of the association receiving the Rajyotsava award, donated by member Janardhana Kodavoor, was handed over to the president.

The programme began with an introductory speech and welcome by general secretary Nazeer Polya. Joint secretary of the silver jubilee committee, Deepak Jain, conducted the proceedings.

The event saw participation from silver jubilee committee director Muhammad Shareef, state committee member Kiran Manjanabailu, and others.
