Mangaluru, Nov 30: The Centre for Social Concern (CSC) at St Aloysius Pre-University College organized Bala Mela 2024, a vibrant and joyous celebration for the children of various schools on November 29. The event, dedicated to nurturing the creativity and enthusiasm of young minds, served as a platform to showcase their talents, engage in entertaining activities, and foster confidence.

The event commenced with a solemn invocation by the college choir. Following this, Akshatha Kudla, one of the staff in charge, extended a warm welcome to the children, dignitaries, and all participants, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day.

The inauguration of Bala Mela marked the formal commencement of the celebration, with Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, the rector delivering an inspiring message. He highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for children to thrive in a nurturing environment. The rector, emphasized the essence of Balamela as a celebration of joy, inclusivity, and growth. He highlighted the importance of engaging with others, breaking down barriers of differences, and building bridges of empathy to foster a more inclusive environment. Encouraging healthy competition and teamwork, he reminded the children to embrace every opportunity for self-empowerment and personal growth. His words resonated with the values of unity, understanding, and personal responsibility, inspiring everyone to make a positive difference in each other’s lives.

Adding to the joy of the day, children from Government Schools and Kannada medium aided schools presented enchanting dance and singing performances that showcased their immense talent and creativity. The students of CSC also delivered a high-energy dance and beatboxing performance that captivated the audience with their exceptional talent and enthusiasm.
To keep the children engaged and entertained, a variety of games were organized, fostering a spirit of teamwork and camaraderie among the participants. Interactive activities like action songs added an element of fun and enthusiasm, ensuring that every child had a memorable experience.

The event concluded with a delightful lunch, providing an opportunity for everyone to bond over a shared meal.

Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, the principal, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, finance officer, Fr Anthony Derrick, campus minister and the dean, Kiran Shetty were present on the occasion. Rahul (I PU) compered the programme and Josvin Pinto (II PU) delivered the vote of thanks.
