Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 1: A man was defrauded of Rs 7.3 lac after being lured by a stranger he met on a dating app.

According to details, a woman identifying herself as Ira Pande connected with the complainant on a dating app. Over time, she persuaded him to invest money through a website resembling the legitimate Spreadex platform.

Ira provided the complainant with a fraudulent link that mimicked the official site, and he began investing in phases.

The complainant initially invested Rs 8.5 lac and managed to withdraw Rs 1.2 lac. However, when he attempted to withdraw the remaining Rs 7.3 lac, Ira demanded a 30% tax payment before processing the withdrawal. Realizing he had been duped, the complainant promptly filed a complaint with the police.

Authorities are investigating the case.
