Moodbiri, Dec 1: Carmel School Moodbidri reverberated with the vibrant energy of its much-anticipated annual sports meet on November 29. The event unfolded with grandeur enthusiasm and a remarkable display of team spirit uniting students’ staff and esteemed guests in a celebration of athleticism and camaraderie.

The proceedings began with the ceremonial escort of dignitaries including the chief guest Dr Amar Sunil Lobo, assistant professor in the department of microbiology (YMC) and guest of honor Jayashree Keshav, president of the town Municipal Council, Moodbidri. They were joined by Sr Elena, the administrator Sr Maria Gracilda AC the principal Sr Preena AC, the vice principal Sr Archana, coordinator of play school and Sr Ranitha and Sr Rosy, the coordinators along with PTA vice president Jossy Menezes. The dignitaries were welcomed with an escort led by the school’s well-synchronized and spectacular band troupe leaving an unforgettable impression.

The event commenced with a soul-stirring opening chorus, followed by an exhilarating welcome dance that filled every heart with joy. Sr Maria Gracilda AC extended a heartfelt welcome to all the dignitaries guests and invitees expressing her gratitude for their gracious presence.

The spectacular march past was a feast for the eyes, with students from grades VI to IX representing themes of popular sports like chess, ludo, rugby, archery, rowing, cricket, football, and basketball. The ceremonial march was led by student leaders, including head girl Hiba Sheikh, assistant head boy Pradyumna Bhanu Prakash, sports minister Ethan Mendonca, and assistant sports minister Avni A Kini. The rhythmic beats of the school band added to the grandeur, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere.

The chief guest, along with other dignitaries, hoisted the school flag, symbolizing the pride and honor of Carmel School. The lighting of the sports torch further ignited the spirit of competition and camaraderie. The sports minister administered the oath, affirming the students’ commitment to sportsmanship. The dignitaries also reviewed the march-past, commending the creative themes and precision of the participants.

In his inspiring address, Dr Amar Sunil Lobo highlighted the significance of sports and fitness as integral to a healthy lifestyle. He lauded the dedication and enthusiasm of the students and the innovative themes of the march past competition. The guest of honor Jayashree Keshav, also motivated the students with her insightful message. The inaugural ceremony of the sports meet began with an impressive demonstration of various sports by students, showcasing their skills and enthusiasm. The chief guest and guest of honor then declared the sports meet open, setting the tone for a spirited and competitive event. The band troupe’s members were honored with medals and certificates, recognizing their exceptional performance and contributions to the event’s success.

The day unfolded with a series of athletic events, including track and field competitions such as 100m, 200m, and 400m races. The champions of the march past competition – under 14 grades VI B, VII B, VII A, and under 17 grades XA, XB – celebrated their well-earned victory, showcasing the fruits of their hard work and perseverance.

Beyond the competitions, the event was a gastronomic delight for the students, adding a festive touch to the occasion.

The much anticipated valedictory programme marking the end of a successful academic year and celebrating the achievements of its students, commenced with a solemn guard of honor presented to the distinguished chief guest Sandesh P G circle inspector of Moodbidri whose presence elevated the occasion. The event was eloquently anchored by the masters of ceremony Angel Sejal Kaylin and Dyanyashree who ensured the seamless flow of the proceedings.

The gathering was ushered into a spiritual ambiance with a heartfelt prayer song by grade IV students invoking divine blessings. This was followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by the vice principal Sr Preena extending a cordial greeting to the chief guest dignitaries staff and students.

Adding a touch of cultural vibrancy, the students presented a mesmerizing Welcome dance captivating the audience with their grace and enthusiasm.

The highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony where students were recognized and awarded for their outstanding achievements in academics sports and co-curricular activities. The chief guest presented the awards inspiring students to continue striving for excellence.

In a gesture of gratitude, the chief guest was honored by the school followed by a speech of appreciation by Tr Reema Sequeira who commended his invaluable contributions and inspiring presence.

A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Tr Veena expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the day a grand success.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem and the ceremonial lowering of the flag symbolizing the end of a memorable event.

The valedictory programme was a fitting farewell to the academic year leaving everyone inspired and motivated to embrace future challenges with zeal and confidence.
