Mangalore diocese YCS, St Aloysius jointly hold 'CHILIPILI Season 1'

Mangaluru, Dec 2: The Young Catholic Students (YCS) of Mangalore diocese, in collaboration with St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) campus, organized CHILIPILI Season 1 on December 1.

The day began with Holy Mass at St Aloysius Chapel. Later, the inaugural programme was presided over by Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). The chief guest for the event was Ivan D'Souza, member of the Legislative Council, government of Karnataka. Guests of honour included Fr Lourd Raj, secretary of the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission; Fr Ashwin Cardoza, secretary of the Youth Commission, Mangaluru; Fr Roshan D'Cunha, director of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; Janet Pinto, co-ordinator of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; Ruben D'Souza, animator of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; the PROs of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Shilpa and Shanti; and Deyon Saldanha, president of YCS Mangalore diocese, who were all present on the dais.

CHILIPILI Season 1 was a grand celebration of creativity and joy. The event brought together performers and audiences in a vibrant atmosphere, with the stage coming alive with music, dance, and colorful performances. The energy of the participants was infectious, and each act showcased talent, passion, and dedication. The audience responded with cheers and applause, which made the event even more special.

The teams for the variety competition came from six deaneries of the Mangalore diocese, and for the Battle of Bands, there were four teams from the Diocese. Workshops and activities added to the excitement, with YCS members expressing their creativity and enthusiasm throughout the day.

The Diocesan Executive Council performed a flash mob, adding a fun and lively element to the event.

The valedictory program was presided over by Fr Melwin J. Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Mangaluru. The chief guest was Vishwas Rebimbus. The guests of honour included Anson Nazareth, national president of YCS/YSM India; Richard Alvares; Fr Roshan D'Cunha, director of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; Janet Pinto, co-ordinator of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; Ruben D'Souza, animator of YCS/YSM Mangalore diocese; PROs of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Shilpa and Shanti; and Deyon Saldanha, president of YCS Mangalore diocese. These dignitaries accompanied the guests on the dais. The winners of various events were felicitated by the dignitaries.

In the reel making competition, the first place was secured by Team Bela, the second place by Team Permannur, and the third place by Team AGG.

In the variety competition, the first place went to Episcopal City Deanery, while the second place was awarded to City Deanery.

In the Battle of Bands, the first place was won by Team Rhythmic Heaven, and the second place was taken by Team Crescendo.

The event created memories that will last a lifetime. It celebrated not just talent but also unity and joy. CHILIPILI Season 1 was truly an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
