Udupi, Dec 3: A daily wage labourer of Odisha origin sustained severe abdominal injuries after being hit by a bike under the Kota police station limits. Social worker Vishu Ambalpady came to his aid and ensured he received appropriate medical treatment.
The injured youth, identified as Krishna (27), was initially taken to a private hospital in Brahmavar, where he received first aid. The doctors there referred him to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, the surgery department at Wenlock Hospital was reportedly non-operational, and the hospital staff sent the patient back without offering any alternative arrangements.
Vishu Shetty then admitted Krishna to a private hospital in Manipal, where he was provided suitable medical care.
Expressing his anger, Vishu Shetty said, “If the surgery section of Wenlock Hospital is under repair, this should have been communicated to the public through press notifications. The hospital should have shown humanity towards the injured person and arranged alternative care. It is unacceptable to jeopardize the life of a critically ill patient.”
