Sri Lankan Band to Rock Mangalore on Christmas Night

Mangalore, Dec 18 (DHNS) : The popular Sri Lankan music band ‘Black velvet’ that rocked the global R and B charts in the late 80s will perform in Mangalore on December 25 at Mangalore Ladies Club from 8 pm onwards.

According to a press release, Black Velvet Winter Christmas Dance organised by the Heath Streak Foundation and Magnum Intergrafiks and supported by Mangalore Ladies Club would showcase a blend of experience, youthfulness, talent, high energy, aggressive power and great vibe.

With their popular favorites - soul, funk, blues, rock n roll, commercial pop, R & B, and scintillating Sri Lankan bailas, the high-profile Sri Lankan music band have stepped on their music route to Mangalore to make everyone happy this Christmas season, announced Joseph Rego, Vice President, Magnum Intergrafiks.

The Foundation initiated in Mangalore by former Zimbabwe Cricket Captain and current national Coach Heath Streak is being launched sometime in March 2012 and aims at supporting underprivileged children towards their education, nutrition and health care.

Heath Streak’s sports agent Joseph Rego has earlier announced that Streak would be traveling to Mangalore with a team of Zimbabwe Cricket Stars to play a T20 cricket match in the city offering our local cricketers the opportunity to play against an International Cricket Team. The cricket game would be followed by a gala fund-raiser to launch the charity Foundation. Due to a busy international and domestic cricket schedule, the Foundation is yet to obtain dates from Cricket Zimbabwe to host the event.

Black Velvet has won the Observer Golden Clef Award for the most promising band for two consecutive years in Sri Lanka and has performed at the tourism festival in South Korea, the Labriz Hotel and Berjaya Hotels in Seychelles, Universal Resorts in Maldives, Noble Park RSL and Gold Cost Concert in Australia, Dubai International Festival and at elite nightclubs in Switzerland, Germany, Austria. The evening would feature foot-tapping music, popular Sri Lankan bailas and Christmas carols.

With the theme “Dancing for a Cause,” ‘Black Velvet’ will be performing for the first time in Mangalore.
